Southern Pines Elks recently celebrated the past year and recognized those who exemplified the spirit of the Elks. While never turning away from a reason to gather with friends and food, the night also served as a reminder of the reason for being an Elk.
Elk of the Year
Chris Smithson
Chris served as Chairman of the House committee, overseeing such operations as developing the new lodge building, securing utilities and permits for occupancy, and most importantly, obtaining the ABC license to allow the bar to open. Chris took his duties seriously, working tirelessly to obtain the license and develop the bar. Chris managed the security system, allowing members to have those nifty key fobs for entry. Chris trained all of our wonderful squad of volunteer bartenders. He even began a quality assurance program, testing almost every single bottle opened at the bar.

John Andrews
John was instrumental in the development of the new building, providing expert technical support for the security and entertainment systems.
